About
Directed by Ashley Wey
Sunny Shams as Accompanist
The Lighthouse Community Choir brings together individuals from diverse backgrounds through the unifying power of music. The choir offers a welcoming space for both seasoned singers and enthusiastic newcomers.
A typical evening will fill you up and leave you feeling renewed and refreshed. You’ll learn some new music and ways of engaging in group singing. There is no audition - everyone can sing. We ask that members commit to at least one term. The full year consists of two terms and a concert for sharing with others at the end of each term. But, the concert is not the prime reason to gather.
We gather simply to sing and nurture your soul through the text and the tunes sung together.
Members of the choir are driven by a shared passion for creating beautiful music and fostering a sense of community. Repertoire often includes a dynamic mix of gospel, contemporary, and traditional choral pieces, allowing members to explore a wide range of musical styles.
The Lighthouse Community Choir not only enriches the lives of its members but also serves as a beacon of hope and connection for the wider community.

FAQ
Solo Opportunities Available?
Absolutely! As each session progresses, we will add a couple of arrangements which include solo sections where individuals or small groups can shine while supported by the full choir.
Voice Parts and Gender?
Voice roles (soprano, alto, tenor, bass) are based purely on vocal range, not gender. Everyone is welcome to sing whichever part best suits their voice.
Support for Non-Music Readers?
We've got you covered! During rehearsals, we pair notation readers with those who don't read music. Additionally, all music is distributed before the first rehearsal in both written notation and through our online playback system, giving you time to familiarize yourself with the pieces at home.
Age Range?
We welcome adults of all ages and abilities to join our musical family.
